Preview: No. 15/16 Princeton Looks to Extend Hot Start at Belmont NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Interstat) — The surging Princeton Tigers will put their eight-game winning streak on the line Saturday when they visit the Belmont Bruins at Curb Events Center. Princeton (8-1), receiving votes in the latest AP Top 25 poll, has been one of the nation’s most efficient teams early this season. Their lone loss came on the road against then-Maryland. Since then, the Tigers have averaged 76.4 points per game during their streak, including a hard-fought 82-78 home win over Seton Hall on Tuesday. The Tigers are led by dynamic guard Skye Belker, who is averaging 16.2 points and 3.4 assists per game. She has scored in double figures in eight of nine contests, including a 27-point effort against Penn State and a 26-point performance against Seton Hall. She is supported by backcourt mates Madison St. Rose (14.1 ppg) and Ashley Chea, who dished six assists in the last outing. Belmont (4-4) seeks consistency after splitting its last four games. The Bruins are coming off a 71-65 road victory at Middle Tennessee on Wednesday, powered by a 20-point outing from guard Avery Strickland. Strickland leads the team in scoring at 14.6 points per game and has been a bright spot, reaching double figures in six of eight contests. The Bruins have faced a tough schedule, with losses to power-conference foes Ohio State and Tennessee, as well as a ranked Oklahoma squad. Their defense, allowing just 62.5 points per game at home, will be tested by Princeton’s balanced, high-scoring attack. Historically, this non-conference matchup pits two successful mid-major programs. Princeton’s offense, shooting 47.8% from the field this season, will clash with a Belmont team forcing nearly 16 turnovers per game. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. EST Saturday. Princeton travels to face Rutgers next on Dec. 10, while Belmont hosts Kentucky on Dec. 14.
