WICHITA, Kan. (Interstat) — The Wichita State Shockers seek a rare win Friday when they host the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks in a nonconference women’s basketball matchup at Charles Koch Arena. Wichita State (1-8) has lost eight straight since a season-opening victory over Lincoln. The Shockers are coming off a 40-point road loss to Texas Tech, 83-43, on Wednesday. Jaila Harding led the team with 11 points in that defeat. The Shockers have failed to score more than 62 points in any game during their losing skid. Maryland-Eastern Shore (5-5) has alternated wins and losses over its last six games. The Hawks are looking to bounce back from a 92-59 defeat at Virginia on Sunday. Brianna Barnes (10 points, 7 rebounds) and Ashanti Lynch (13 points) were among the top performers in that contest. The game represents a final tune-up before tougher tests for both squads. Maryland-Eastern Shore visits No. 9-ranked Oklahoma on Sunday. Wichita State’s next game is at home against Loyola Marymount on Dec. 13. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST Friday.
