ORANGEBURG, S.C. (Interstat) — The surging High Point women’s basketball team, riding a three-game win streak, visits struggling South Carolina State on Friday afternoon at SHM Memorial Center. The Panthers (8-1) have dominated recent opponents, averaging 82.6 points per game. They are coming off a 101-57 rout of UVA Wise on Monday where Macy Spencer scored 22 points and Nevaeh Zavala added 20. Their only loss came on the road against Houston. South Carolina State (2-7) seeks to halt a four-game slide, most recently a 64-58 overtime loss at UNC Asheville on Wednesday. Shaunice Reed leads the Bulldogs with 17 points in that contest, while Feliah Greer pulled down seven rebounds. The matchup pits one of the nation’s top early-season offenses against a Bulldogs squad that has struggled defensively, allowing an average of 70.2 points per game. High Point’s efficient backcourt, led by Spencer and Zavala, will test that defense. For the Bulldogs, finding consistent scoring beyond Reed will be critical. The Panthers have won their road games by an average margin of 15 points this season. Tipoff is set for Friday, Dec. 5, in Orangeburg.
