ATHENS, Ohio (Interstat) — The Ohio Bobcats host the Illinois-Chicago Flames in a nonconference women’s basketball game on Friday, Dec. 5, as both teams look to move above .500 this season. Ohio (3-3) returns to the Convocation Center after a 64-59 road loss at Davidson on Sunday. Asiah Baxter scored 13 points and Bella Ranallo added a team-high 15 points in the defeat. The Bobcats are 2-1 at home this season, averaging 76.7 points per game in those contests. Illinois-Chicago (4-4) arrives after a narrow 52-50 loss at Iona last Saturday. Julia Coleman anchored the Flames’ defense in that game with nine points, six rebounds and four blocks. Chantrel Clayton and Magdalena Winter each scored in double figures. The Flames have split their last four games and are 2-2 in road contests. They are allowing just 62.5 points per game away from home. Friday’s matchup is the first of a two-game road trip for UIC, which visits Valparaiso on Sunday. Ohio plays its next three games on the road starting Dec. 13 at Radford. A win would give either team a winning record heading into the final stretch of nonconference play.
