LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum will meet when the Utah State Aggies visit the Loyola Marymount Lions in a nonconference women’s basketball game Friday at Gersten Pavilion. Both teams enter with 3-3 overall records. Utah State looks to rebound from a 70-34 road loss at Oregon on Nov. 23, where Aaliyah Gayles scored a team-high 11 points. The Aggies are 1-3 away from home this season. Loyola Marymount arrives with some confidence after a 73-62 victory at Cal State Fullerton on Nov. 29. Jess Lawson powered the Lions with 24 points in that win, supported by Andjela Matic (14 points) and Carly Heidger (15 points). The Aggies’ results have shown volatility, with a 96-41 win over Stanislaus State followed by the decisive loss to Oregon. Loyola Marymount has been more consistent recently, winning two of its last three. This is the first meeting between the programs in recent seasons. Utah State begins a two-game California road trip, facing San Diego on Sunday. Loyola Marymount plays next at Wichita State on Dec. 13. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST.
