TEMPE, Ariz. (Interstat) — The undefeated Arizona State Sun Devils will put their perfect record on the line Friday night when they host the surging McNeese State Cowgirls in a nonconference women’s basketball game at Wells Fargo Arena. Arizona State (8-0) has won each of its games by double digits, most recently an 85-56 victory over Southeast Missouri State on Nov. 29. Heloisa Carrera led the way with 21 points, while Last-Tear Poa posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists. McNeese State (5-2) arrives with momentum, having won four of its last five games. The Cowgirls are coming off a 67-52 road win at Utah Tech on Tuesday. Kaili Chamberlin scored 13 points in that victory, while Arianna Patton added 14. The game presents a contrast in schedules, as both teams will play again on Saturday. Arizona State will host San Francisco, while McNeese State faces Nevada at a neutral site in Tempe. The Sun Devils have relied on a balanced offense and stout defense, allowing an average of just 59.6 points per game. The Cowgirls, whose losses came to West Virginia and Alabama, will look to chamberlin, Patton and Allasia Washington to challenge that defense. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST Friday.
