TULSA, Okla. (Interstat) — The Tulsa women’s basketball team looks to rebound from a narrow conference loss when it hosts struggling Mississippi Valley State on Thursday night at the Donald Reynolds Center. The Golden Hurricane (5-2) fell 66-61 to Houston in their American Athletic Conference opener on Nov. 30. Hannah Riddick led Tulsa with 22 points, while Mady Cartwright added 12. Tulsa’s other loss this season was a 75-69 defeat at Kent State. Mississippi Valley State (1-5) arrives after a 66-50 home loss to Tarleton State on Tuesday. Ariel Jefferson scored 11 points and Nairobi Lewis added 10 points and four blocks for the Devilettes, who have lost four straight. Their lone win came against Lipscomb on Nov. 16. The Devilettes have faced a difficult early schedule, including blowout losses to Power Five opponents Auburn, Mississippi State and Troy. They allow an average of 85.2 points per game. Tulsa, which averages 72.7 points, has defended its home court well, going 4-0 in Tulsa this season. Following this game, Mississippi Valley State travels to face Oklahoma State on Saturday. Tulsa visits Creighton on Sunday.
