AUSTIN, Texas (Interstat) — Two of the nation’s top teams will clash Thursday when the undefeated and sixth-ranked Texas Longhorns host the North Carolina Tar Heels in a marquee nonconference women’s basketball game. The Longhorns (8-0) have powered through their early schedule, highlighted by a 66-64 win at then-South Carolina on Nov. 27. They are coming off an 81-63 victory over Penn on Sunday, led by Madison Booker’s 17-point, 10-rebound double-double. The Tar Heels (8-1) have won eight straight since a season-opening loss to UCLA, including an 85-73 win over Kansas State last week. In their most recent game, an 80-63 win at Columbia, Lanie Grant scored 19 points. Texas has dominated at home, winning by an average margin of 55.3 points in four games at the Frank Erwin Center. North Carolina, however, presents their toughest test yet, boasting a balanced attack where four players average double-figure scoring. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. EST Thursday. North Carolina hosts Boston University on Sunday. Texas will host Prairie View A&M on Sunday.
