FAIRLAWN, Va. (Interstat) — The Navy women’s basketball team looks to rebound from a tough overtime loss when it visits Radford on Thursday night at the D.N. Dedmon Center. The Midshipmen (5-2) fell 69-67 to Duquesne in extra time on Sunday. Julianna Almeida led Navy with 14 points and 12 rebounds in that contest, while Zanai Barnett-Gay added nine points, seven rebounds and five assists. Radford (5-5) is also coming off an overtime defeat, having lost 62-59 at Cleveland State on Saturday. Angelina Nice scored 13 points for the Highlanders in that game, with Anna Stromberg adding 10 points. Navy has been strong at home but is 0-1 in true road games this season, a loss at Richmond. The Midshipmen’s wins include a 69-54 victory over Florida. The Highlanders have won three of their last five, including home victories over Valparaiso and Niagara by double digits. They are 4-1 at the Dedmon Center this season. This nonconference matchup is the first meeting between the programs in recent seasons. Navy’s next game is Sunday against Iona. Radford hosts Ohio on Dec. 13.
