PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The Penn women’s basketball team looks to rebound from a road loss to a power conference opponent when it hosts Maine on Thursday night at The Palestra. The Quakers (5-3) fell 81-63 at Texas on Nov. 30. Guard Mataya Gayle scored 24 points in that contest and is the team’s leading scorer this season. Penn, which has won two of its three home games, will face a Maine team arriving with momentum. The Black Bears (3-5) have won two straight, including a 54-45 home victory over Boston University on Monday. Forward Adrianna Smith led Maine with 24 points in that win. Maine’s record is bolstered by a 3-1 mark at home, but the Black Bears are 0-4 in away games this season. This contest begins a stretch of four consecutive road games for Maine. Thursday’s game is the final non-conference home contest for Penn before it begins Ivy League play in January. Maine continues its non-conference schedule through December. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
