SPOKANE, Wash. (Interstat) — The Gonzaga Bulldogs look to build on a narrow win and climb above .500 when they host the struggling Grand Canyon Antelopes in a nonconference women’s basketball game Thursday. Gonzaga (4-4) edged Marquette 65-61 at home last Sunday, fueled by a 23-point, 13-rebound double-double from Lauren Whittaker. Allie Turner added 17 points and four assists. The Antelopes (1-6) arrive seeking to end a five-game skid, most recently a 65-64 home loss to Texas-San Antonio on Nov. 26. Julianna LaMendola scored 21 points in that defeat, while Anisa Jeffries added 12. Grand Canyon’s season has been marked by close losses, with three defeats by five points or fewer. Gonzaga has split its eight games, finding more consistency at McCarthey Athletic Center. The Bulldogs’ upcoming schedule includes a Saturday home game against UC Davis. Grand Canyon continues a road swing at Saint Mary’s on Sunday.
