FORT COLLINS, Colo. (Interstat) — The Colorado State Rams, off to their best start in years, will host the Utah Utes in a nonconference women’s basketball clash on Thursday night at Moby Arena. The Rams (7-1) have won seven of their first eight, with the only blemish a narrow 62-60 road loss to then-Stanford last Saturday. Lexus Bargesser led the way in that game with 19 points. Colorado State’s resume includes a road win at Gonzaga and a neutral-court victory over Oregon State. Utah (5-3) arrives looking to build momentum after a dominant 78-38 road win at Montana. Maty Wilke posted 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists in that victory, while Lani White added a team-high 16 points and seven boards. The Utes’ three losses have come against ranked opponent Connecticut and power conference foes Syracuse and Washington. The game features a contrast in early-season trajectories. Colorado State has thrived in a challenging schedule, while Utah seeks a statement road win to solidify its profile. The Utes have shown a high ceiling, averaging 90 points in their season opener, but have struggled with consistency against top competition. Following this matchup, Colorado State will host Southern Utah on Sunday. Utah’s next game is at home against Boise State on Dec. 10.
