NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Interstat) — A stark contrast in early-season fortunes will be on display Wednesday when the Bryant Bulldogs visit the Yale Bulldogs in a nonconference women’s basketball game at Payne Whitney Gymnasium. Bryant (7-1) arrives with one of the nation’s best records, its only loss a 53-62 road setback against Providence on Sunday. Despite the defeat, forward Nia Scott posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while guard Mia Mancini added a team-high 16 points. The Bulldogs have dominated most opponents, winning their other seven games by an average margin of 22.4 points. Yale (1-7) seeks to halt a difficult start, coming off an 82-64 loss at Penn State. Guard Luisa Vydrova scored 19 points in that contest, and forward Dorka Kastl contributed eight assists and four blocks. The Bulldogs’ lone win came against American University, 63-54, on Nov. 26. The matchup features two teams sharing the Bulldogs nickname but on divergent paths. Bryant’s high-scoring offense, averaging 72.1 points per game, will test a Yale defense allowing 71.6 points per contest. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST Wednesday. Yale travels to Rider on Saturday, while Bryant hosts Holy Cross on Dec. 7.
