HADLEY, Ky. (Interstat) — Florida Atlantic looks to build on an overtime win when it visits Western Kentucky in a nonconference women’s basketball game Wednesday night. The Owls (4-3) edged Wright State 66-65 in overtime on Friday, led by Madi Gewirtz’s 11 points and six rebounds. Florida Atlantic has alternated wins and losses over its past five games. Western Kentucky (3-4) is coming off a 60-52 road win at Southern Illinois on Sunday. Tia Shelling scored 16 points and Zsófia Telegdy added 15 for the Lady Toppers. Both teams enter E.A. Diddle Arena with similar records but contrasting recent schedules. The Owls have played four of their last five at home, while Wednesday marks Western Kentucky’s first home game since Nov. 19. The Lady Toppers are 2-1 at home this season, with their lone loss a 65-60 defeat to Indiana State. Florida Atlantic is 1-2 in true road games. This is the final scheduled nonconference home game for Western Kentucky before it begins Conference USA play in January. Florida Atlantic opens its American Athletic Conference slate on Dec. 30.
