WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Interstat) — The unbeaten Wake Forest women’s basketball team looks to extend its perfect start when it hosts William & Mary at Joel Coliseum on Wednesday. The Demon Deacons (9-0) are off to their best beginning in program history, coming off a 57-44 road win at Illinois State last Friday. Mary Carter and Grace Oliver each scored 11 points in the victory. They face a Tribe squad (2-4) that snapped a three-game skid with a 64-53 win at Tennessee State on Saturday. Monet Dance led William & Mary with 22 points in that contest. Wake Forest has relied on a stout defense, holding opponents to an average of 55.7 points per game. William & Mary averages 60.2 points offensively but allows 66.2 per game. This is the first meeting between the programs since 2007. Wake Forest opens a three-game homestand, while the contest is part of a challenging nonconference stretch for the Tribe. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST.
