SYRACUSE, N.Y. (Interstat) — Two teams coming off opposite results meet Wednesday when the Auburn Tigers visit the Syracuse Orange in a nonconference women’s basketball matchup at the Carrier Dome. Auburn (8-1) looks to rebound from its first loss, a 58-53 defeat to Oregon on Sunday that snapped an eight-game win streak. Mya Petticord led the Tigers with 13 points in that game. Syracuse (6-1) enters on a high note after a 78-62 victory over Howard, powered by Izoje Uche’s 20 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks. The Tigers have built their record with strong defense, holding six opponents under 60 points. Syracuse’s lone blemish was an 81-55 road loss to Michigan. The Orange have been dominant at home, winning by an average of 33.5 points in four games. This contest serves as a final major nonconference test before both teams dive into league play next month. Auburn begins Southeastern Conference action Jan. 1, while Syracuse starts Atlantic Coast Conference play Dec. 28. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST.
