ST. PAUL, Minn. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday when the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks visit the Saint Thomas Tommies in a nonconference women’s basketball game. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST at Schoenecker Arena. Northern Arizona (1-7) enters on a four-game losing streak, most recently an 86-62 home loss to Creighton on Nov. 28. JBionna Robinson led the Lumberjacks in that defeat with 19 points and five rebounds. Northern Arizona’s lone win came against Embry-Riddle on Nov. 11. Saint Thomas (2-6) snapped a five-game skid with a dominant 77-40 victory over Wis.-Stout on Sunday. Alyssa Sand paced the Tommies with 13 points and six rebounds. Prior to that, Saint Thomas had faced a challenging early schedule, including losses to Oakland, UC Irvine and Iowa State. Both teams have struggled defensively, with each allowing an average of more than 70 points per game this season. The matchup could hinge on which squad can find consistent scoring beyond its top performers. For Northern Arizona, Robinson averages a team-high 19 points per game. Saint Thomas will counter with Sand, its leading scorer and rebounder. Wednesday’s contest is the first meeting between the programs. It marks the final nonconference home game for the Tommies before Summit League play begins next month. Northern Arizona continues a road swing before its Big Sky Conference opener in January.
