JERSEY CITY, N.J. (Interstat) — The Army women’s basketball team looks to rebound from its first loss in nearly a month when it visits struggling Saint Peter’s on Wednesday night. The Black Knights (5-2) had a four-game win streak snapped in a 74-64 defeat at Eastern Kentucky on Saturday. Reese Ericson led Army with 17 points in that contest, while Kya Smith added 14 and Brooke Wilson chipped in 10 points, six rebounds and four assists. Army’s defense has been a strength, holding four opponents under 55 points this season. The Peacocks (1-5) have found scoring difficult, averaging just 50 points per game and coming off a 57-39 loss at Rutgers. De’Naya Rippey posted 11 points and eight rebounds in that defeat, Saint Peter’s lone win was a dominant 83-31 victory over Division III Lehman on Nov. 25. Wednesday’s matchup at Yanitelli Center is the first meeting between the programs since 2017. Army will look to exploit its backcourt advantage, while Saint Peter’s seeks to improve its offensive efficiency against a disciplined opponent.

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (Interstat) — Kya Smith scored 17 points and grabbed 15 rebounds Wednesday afternoon to lead Army to a 65-43 women’s basketball victory over Saint Peter’s at Yanitelli Center. The Black Knights (6-2) led 31-17 at halftime and maintained control throughout, outscoring the Peacocks in every quarter. Reese Ericson added 15 points for Army. De’Naya Rippey led Saint Peter’s (1-6) with 15 points. Army shot effectively from the floor while holding the Peacocks to a cold offensive afternoon in front of 673 fans. Smith’s double-double included three assists in 32 minutes. Saint Peter’s, which has lost six straight, next hosts Monmouth on Sunday. Army hosts Massachusetts on Saturday.
