MALIBU, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging California Baptist women’s basketball team will look to extend its strong start when it visits Pepperdine on Wednesday night at Firestone Fieldhouse. The Lancers (6-1) enter on a two-game win streak, most recently routing Sacramento State 92-49 on Saturday. Lauren Olsen led the way with 20 points in that victory. Pepperdine (4-2) seeks to rebound after a 52-82 road loss to Southern California on Friday. Guard Elli Guiney paced the Waves with 12 points and six assists in that contest. California Baptist’s offense has been potent, averaging 76.3 points in its six wins, with its lone loss a 49-74 setback to UC Santa Barbara. Pepperdine has shown balance, with four players averaging at least nine points per game, but faced its stiffest competition in the loss to USC. The nonconference matchup pits the Lancers’ high-scoring attack against a Waves squad looking to defend its home court. It is the first meeting between the programs since 2022. Following this game, California Baptist visits Boise State on Saturday. Pepperdine travels to face Fresno State the same day.
