NORMAN, Okla. (Interstat) — A surging Oklahoma women’s basketball team will host a North Carolina State squad coming off a historic offensive outburst when the Sooners and Wolfpack meet Wednesday at Lloyd Noble Center. The No. 7-ranked Sooners (7-1) have won six straight since a season-opening loss to UCLA, averaging 99.3 points during that stretch. They are led by star guard Aaliyah Chavez, who scored 29 points in Sunday’s 109-91 win over Florida State. The Wolfpack (5-3) arrive with momentum after a dominant 110-56 victory at Southern Mississippi on Friday. Forward Khamil Pierre recorded an 18-point, 16-rebound double-double in that win, while guard Zamareya Jones added 14 points and eight assists. NC State’s three losses have come by a combined 12 points. Oklahoma’s high-powered offense, which ranks among the national leaders, will face an NC State defense that has held four opponents under 60 points this season. The matchup features a contrast in tempo and will serve as a key nonconference test for both sides before league play begins next month.
