EUGENE, Ore. (Interstat) — The undefeated and No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks (9-0) will host in-state rival Oregon State (5-3) in a nonconference women’s basketball game Wednesday at Matthew Knight Arena. The Ducks, one of the nation’s last remaining unbeaten teams, are coming off a 58-53 road win at Auburn on Sunday. Katie Fiso led Oregon with 24 points. Oregon has dominated its early schedule, winning by an average margin of 30.2 points, with only the Auburn game decided by single digits. Oregon State seeks to rebound after a 78-67 home loss to Virginia Tech on Saturday. Jenna Villa scored 19 points and Kennedie Shuler added 15 in the defeat. The Beavers have faced a tougher early slate, with all three losses coming against power-conference opponents. While both schools are future members of the Big Ten, this matchup is organized as an independent nonconference game. The rivalry adds stakes beyond record, though Oregon’s potent offense, averaging 78.2 points per game, will test an Oregon State defense that allowed 88 points in a loss to Vanderbilt last week.
