EVANSTON, Ill. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to rebound from narrow road losses will meet Wednesday when the Kansas women’s basketball team visits Northwestern at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The Jayhawks (6-2) fell 59-58 at Dayton on Saturday, their second straight defeat after a 6-0 start. Elle Evans scored 16 points in the loss, while Lilly Meister added 11 points and four blocks. The Wildcats (6-1) saw their unbeaten start end with an 85-70 loss at Missouri on Saturday, despite a 31-point, 13-rebound performance from Grace Sullivan. Caroline Lau and Tate Lash each dished eight assists in the contest. Kansas, which has played its last three games away from home, will try to solve a Northwestern defense that has held four opponents under 60 points this season. The Wildcats have relied on balanced scoring and playmaking, with Sullivan’s breakout game providing a new offensive threat. Wednesday’s nonconference matchup is the final tune-up for both teams before challenging stretches. Kansas begins a run of games against Missouri State, Denver and Haskell. Northwestern opens a pivotal stretch Sunday against Ohio State before a West Coast road trip. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CST.
