BOSTON (Interstat) — The undefeated Massachusetts Minutewomen visit the Northeastern Huskies in a nonconference women’s basketball matchup Wednesday afternoon at Matthews Arena. Massachusetts (6-0) is off to its best start in years, coming off a 63-40 road win at Holy Cross on Nov. 25. Yahmani McKayle led the Minutewomen with 17 points and five assists in that victory. UMass has won its games by an average margin of 14.2 points. Northeastern (3-5) looks to build momentum after splitting its last two, including a 51-46 win at UMass Lowell on Nov. 25. The Huskies fell 79-56 at Rutgers in their most recent outing Friday, led by 11 points from Yirsy Quéliz. The Huskies will aim to leverage their home court to slow a UMass offense averaging 68.2 points per game. Northeastern has struggled offensively, averaging just 57.6 points. This is the final nonconference tune-up for both teams before lengthy holiday breaks. UMass visits Army on Saturday. Northeastern’s next game is at Boston College on Dec. 19.
