FARMVILLE, Va. (Interstat) — The surging Troy women’s basketball team will put its five-game winning streak on the line when it visits Longwood in a nonconference matchup Wednesday at Willet Hall. The Trojans (7-1) are coming off a 74-70 road victory at Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, led by 22 points from Zay Dyer. Troy’s only loss came at then-Kansas State, and its resume includes a win at Missouri. Longwood (6-3) has won two straight, most recently a 68-60 home win over Stephen F. Austin. Amor Harris scored a season-high 23 points in that victory, while Frances Ulysse added 12 points and eight rebounds. The Lancers are 4-0 at home this season but faced blowout road losses to Mississippi and Virginia. Troy’s offense has been potent, averaging 79.4 points per game. Longwood has been strong defensively at home, allowing just 54.5 points per game in Farmville. This is the first meeting between the programs. Troy visits Old Dominion next on Dec. 17. Longwood hosts Division II UNC Pembroke on Dec. 7.
