PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The La Salle Explorers look to rebound from their first loss in nearly three weeks when they host the VCU Rams in an Atlantic 10 women’s basketball matchup on Wednesday. La Salle (5-2) saw a five-game win streak snapped with a 66-54 home loss to Villanova on Nov. 25. Ashleigh Connor scored 17 points in the defeat. The Explorers have been strong at Tom Gola Arena, winning four of their five home contests this season. VCU (3-4) seeks to end a three-game skid, most recently a 61-39 loss at Texas-Arlington on Nov. 25. Ty Williams led the Rams with 11 points in that game. VCU’s offense has struggled during the losing streak, failing to reach 60 points in each of the three defeats. The Rams have shown resilience early, winning two close home games, but have found consistent scoring difficult on the road. La Salle’s defense, which allowed just 50.6 points per game during its win streak, will test VCU’s shooters. This contest is the conference opener for both teams.
