BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Interstat) — The Indiana Hoosiers look to rebound from their first loss when they host the struggling Western Michigan Broncos in a nonconference women’s basketball game Wednesday night at Assembly Hall. No. 7-ranked Indiana (7-1) fell 106-95 to Iowa State on Sunday despite a career-high 38 points from guard Shay Ciezki. The Hoosiers had won their first seven games, including a 76-72 victory at then-Gonzaga. Western Michigan (1-4) arrives seeking to end a three-game skid. The Broncos are coming off an 82-70 overtime loss to Roosevelt on Nov. 25. Nile Muguira Orbe scored 17 points in that defeat, while D’Myjah Bolds added 15 and Alli Carlson had 14 points and seven assists. The Broncos’ lone win was a 65-64 victory at Milwaukee on Nov. 13. They have struggled offensively, failing to reach 70 points in any game this season. Indiana, which averages 86.6 points per game, presents a formidable challenge. Alongside Ciezki (22.4 ppg), Lenée Beaumont averages 15.1 points and 5.4 assists. This is the first meeting between the programs. Indiana opens Big Ten play at Illinois on Saturday. Western Michigan visits Loyola Chicago on Sunday.
