CHENEY, Wash. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum will meet when the Denver Pioneers visit the Eastern Washington Eagles in a nonconference women’s basketball game Wednesday at Reese Court. Both teams enter with identical 3-4 records. Denver looks to rebound from a 69-52 road loss at UTEP on Saturday. Coryn Watts led the Pioneers with 19 points in that defeat. Eastern Washington also comes off a loss, falling 73-58 at Portland on Sunday. Ella Gallatin scored 19 points for the Eagles. The Pioneers have shown resilience, winning two of their last four, including a 60-55 home victory over Cal State Fullerton on Nov. 16. Eastern Washington’s season highlights include a narrow 58-57 road win at Nevada on Nov. 28 and a 78-67 home win over Cal Poly. Wednesday’s contest offers each squad a chance to climb above .500 before continuing their respective schedules. Denver’s Watts and Brooke Murrell will be key against an Eastern Washington lineup featuring Gallatin and Kourtney Grossman, who had 15 points against Portland. The game is tipped off for 6 p.m. PST.
