BALTIMORE (Interstat) — The Marshall Thundering Herd look to rebound from a weekend loss when they visit the struggling Coppin State Eagles in a nonconference women’s basketball game Wednesday. Marshall (5-3) enters having dropped two of its last three, including a 66-56 defeat at Morehead State on Sunday. Timberlynn Yeast led the Thundering Herd with eight rebounds in that contest. Coppin State (1-7) seeks to end a seven-game skid. The Eagles fell 77-56 to Missouri State on Sunday, despite 19 points from Mickelle Lowry. Their lone win came against Division II Lincoln on Nov. 6. The matchup pits Marshall’s defense, which has held three opponents under 55 points, against a Coppin State offense averaging just 54.6 points during its losing streak. The Eagles have faced a rigorous early schedule with road games against ranked opponents Oklahoma and Tennessee. This is the first meeting between the programs. Marshall continues a three-game road swing before hosting Kent State on Saturday. Coppin State plays the second of a four-game homestand at the Physical Education Complex. Tip-off is set for Wednesday night in Baltimore.
