BUFFALO, N.Y. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking their first winning streak of the season will meet Wednesday when the Buffalo Bulls host the Niagara Purple Eagles in a nonconference women’s basketball game at Alumni Arena. Both programs have struggled in the early going. Niagara (0-7) is still searching for its first victory after a 130-32 road loss to Ohio State on Sunday. Tyasia Freeman led the Purple Eagles in that defeat with 11 rebounds and seven points. Buffalo (1-6) looks to rebound from a narrow 58-56 home loss to Hampton on Saturday. Meg Lucas posted a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds in that contest for the Bulls, who earned their lone win against Fordham on Nov. 16. The Purple Eagles have lost by an average of 34.7 points per game. The Bulls’ scoring margin is minus-13.1. This is the final scheduled nonconference home game for Buffalo before it begins Mid-American Conference play in January. Niagara opens Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action on Jan. 1. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST.
