JONESBORO, Ark. (Interstat) — The Arkansas State Red Wolves look to continue a strong start when they host the struggling Florida Gulf Coast Eagles in a nonconference women’s basketball game Wednesday. Arkansas State (5-3) enters having won three of its last four, including a 74-54 road victory over Kent State on Sunday. D’Arrah Allen led the way with 17 points in that win, while Zyion Shannon added 16. The Red Wolves are 2-0 at home this season. Florida Gulf Coast (2-4) seeks to halt a two-game skid after a 74-70 home loss to Troy on Saturday. Maca Retamales scored 29 points in the defeat, and Sinai Douglas nearly notched a double-double with 9 points and 9 assists. The Eagles’ wins this season came against Ave Maria and Stanford. The Eagles have struggled offensively in their losses, failing to reach 65 points in any of their four defeats. They will face an Arkansas State team that has scored 74 or more points in four of its five victories. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST at Convocation Center. It is the first meeting between the programs.
