TAMPA, Fla. (Interstat) — The undefeated and top-ranked Connecticut Huskies put their perfect record on the line Tuesday against the South Florida Bulls at the Sun Dome. UConn (7-0) has dominated its competition, winning by an average margin of 38.7 points. The Huskies are coming off a 104-39 rout of Xavier on Sunday, where freshman Sarah Strong posted 14 points, six rebounds and eight assists. Allie Ziebell added 16 points. South Florida (5-3) aims to rebound from a challenging early schedule. The Bulls defeated New Orleans 90-58 in their last outing, led by Raina Tomasicka’s 21 points and four assists. Fatou Diakite nearly recorded a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds in the win. The Bulls’ three losses have come against power-conference opponents, including a 57-45 defeat at Minnesota. Their most impressive victory was an 85-72 win over Duke at home on Nov. 20. UConn’s high-powered offense, which has scored 93 or more points in four of its seven games, will be tested by a South Florida defense that held Harvard to 54 points in a narrow victory last week. This non-conference matchup is a key test for the Bulls before they host South Carolina on Dec. 18. For the Huskies, it’s the next challenge in a gauntlet that includes a highly anticipated road game at Iowa on Dec. 20.
