LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — The Saint Mary’s Gaels will look to rebound from a tough double-overtime loss when they visit the Southern California Women of Troy in a nonconference women’s basketball matchup Tuesday at Galen Center. Both teams enter the contest with winning records. Saint Mary’s is 5-3, while Southern California sits at 5-2. The Gaels are coming off a heartbreaking 67-65 double-overtime defeat to North Texas on Nov. 26. Edie Clarke led the team with 11 points and eight rebounds in the loss, while Addi Wedin scored 16 points with eight boards. The game was Saint Mary’s third straight loss after opening the season 5-0. Southern California rides high after an 82-52 rout of Pepperdine on Nov. 28. Freshman Jazzy Davidson scored 18 points with five assists and three blocks, and Kara Dunn added a team-high 19 points. The Women of Troy’s only two losses this season came against then-South Carolina and in a narrow 61-59 road game against Notre Dame. The game pits Saint Mary’s, seeking to halt its skid, against a surging Southern California squad that has won its last two games by an average of 33.5 points. The Gaels will continue their road trip at San Jose State on Thursday, while Southern California next hosts Washington on Sunday.
