LAFAYETTE, La. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking to halt losing streaks will meet Tuesday when the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions face the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns in a non-conference women’s basketball game at the Cajundome. The Lions (2-3) enter the contest looking to rebound from a 76-71 road loss to Southeastern Louisiana on Nov. 22. Tiani Ellison led the way in that game, scoring 21 points and pulling down seven rebounds. Louisiana-Lafayette (0-7) is still in search of its first win after falling 61-48 at Fresno State on Saturday. Imani Daniel recorded a double-double in the loss with 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Ragin’ Cajuns’ winless start has been marked by challenging road games, including losses to Texas and Memphis. Texas A&M-Commerce has also faced power-conference opponents, suffering lopsided defeats to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, but has shown its capability with dominant home wins over UNT Dallas and Texas-Dallas. Tuesday’s matchup presents an opportunity for one team to build momentum before the heart of their schedules. The Lions will look to Ellison to continue her strong play, while the Ragin’ Cajuns will rely on Daniel to anchor their efforts for a breakthrough victory. Tipoff is set for Tuesday afternoon in Lafayette.
