BEAUMONT, Texas (Interstat) — The Lamar Lady Cardinals and Texas-Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros, both seeking to get back to .500, will meet in a nonconference women’s basketball game Tuesday at the Montagne Center. Lamar (2-4) returns home after a 62-47 road loss to Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday. Jacei Denley led the Lady Cardinals with 12 points, while Solenne Olenga pulled down eight rebounds. UTRGV (3-3) is also looking to rebound from a lopsided defeat, having fallen 93-57 at TCU in its last outing on Nov. 23. Chazlyn Dettor scored 17 points in that contest, while Erin Maguire added 14 points and five assists. The Vaqueros have shown a pattern of struggling on the road against power-conference teams, with losses at TCU and Abilene Christian, but securing a 77-65 win at Texas State. Lamar’s two victories this season have come at home, including a 61-30 win over St. Mary’s. Following this game, Lamar will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Dec. 15. UTRGV’s next contest is a Dec. 10 home game against Texas.
