BURLINGTON, Vt. (Interstat) — The Vermont Catamounts will look to solidify their standing and complete a regular-season series sweep when they host the NJIT Highlanders in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game Tuesday night. Vermont (21-11) enters the contest having won five of its last six, including a dominant 77-57 victory over Bryant on Saturday. The Catamounts are led by guard TJ Hurley, who is coming off a 29-point performance and averaged 19.3 points in three games last week. Hurley scored 13 points in Vermont’s 70-64 win at NJIT on Feb. 21. NJIT (16-16) snapped a three-game skid with a narrow 60-58 home win over Maine on Saturday. The Highlanders’ offense runs through guard Sebastian Robinson, who poured in 21 points in that victory. Robinson, who scored 16 points in the loss to Vermont last month, has averaged 19.1 points over his last seven games. The teams have split their two meetings this season. NJIT stunned Vermont 79-77 on the road on Jan. 31 behind a balanced attack, before the Catamounts returned the favor three weeks later in Newark. Tuesday’s matchup will serve as the rubber game. For Vermont, a win would bolster its resume ahead of conference tournament play. The Catamounts have been strong at home, posting a 12-3 record at Patrick Gymnasium this season. NJIT, hovering at .500, seeks a signature road victory to build momentum. The Highlanders have struggled away from home, with a 5-10 record in true road games. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Eastern.
