BOISE, Idaho (Interstat) — A pivotal Big Sky Conference tournament matchup Tuesday features a surging Montana team looking to continue its recent mastery over regular-season standout Portland State. The eighth-seeded Montana Grizzlies (17-15) face the top-seeded Portland State Vikings (20-10) at CenturyLink Arena. Tipoff is set for March 10, 2026. Montana, which has won three of its last four, enters with momentum after a 95-89 first-round victory over Northern Colorado on Monday. The Vikings, who earned a first-round bye, last played in an 85-78 win over Idaho State on Sunday. The Grizzlies have won both meetings this season, including a 74-68 home victory on Feb. 28. Montana guard Money Williams, the conference’s leading scorer, was instrumental in that win, pouring in 27 points and dishing seven assists. He is coming off a spectacular 40-point performance in Monday’s win. Portland State will counter with guard Terri Miller, who is capable of explosive scoring but was held to just two points in the loss at Montana. Miller rebounded with a 31-point effort in Sunday’s victory. According to National Statistical’s ELO system, Portland State holds a narrow 51.6% probability to win. Oddsmakers list the Vikings as a 2.5-point favorite with an over/under of 141.5 points. The winner will advance to the tournament semifinals on Wednesday.
