Preview: Ohio Bobcats at Massachusetts Minutemen HADLEY, Mass. (Interstat) ā Two teams seeking momentum to close the regular season will meet when the Ohio Bobcats visit the Massachusetts Minutemen in a Mid-American Conference menās basketball game Tuesday night at the Mullins Center. Both teams enter with identical 7-9 conference records and .500 overall marks. Ohio (14-14) looks to rebound from a 79-67 home loss to Toledo on Saturday. Massachusetts (15-15) aims to snap a six-game losing streak, most recently an 81-62 defeat at Bowling Green. The matchup features two of the leagueās top offensive talents. Ohio is led by junior forward Javan Simmons, who is averaging 18.3 points over his last three games, including a 20-point, 5-assist performance against Toledo. For the Minutemen, sophomore guard Leonardo Bettiol has been a bright spot during the skid, scoring 24 points in the loss to Bowling Green and averaging 20.1 points over his last seven contests. The teams met earlier this season in Athens, Ohio, with the Bobcats securing an 86-83 victory on Jan. 6. In that game, Simmons scored 19 points, while Bettiol led all scorers with 26 points for Massachusetts. Ohio has shown resilience on the road recently, winning at Northern Illinois on Feb. 21. However, consistency has been an issue, as evidenced by a 16-point loss at Miami (Ohio) on Feb. 13. The Bobcats are 3-7 in true road games this season. Massachusetts has struggled at home during its current slide, dropping its last two at the Mullins Center in overtime heartbreakers to Buffalo and in regulation to Miami (Ohio). The Minutemenās last win was a 95-89 victory over Central Michigan on Feb. 3. The game could hinge on which team can find defensive stops late. Both squads have shown offensive firepower but rank in the bottom half of the MAC in scoring defense. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST. The Bobcatsā next game is at home against Miami (Ohio) on Friday. This contest is the regular-season home finale for Massachusetts.
