NORMAN, Okla. (Interstat) — A dramatic overtime clash from just over a month ago sets the stage for the rematch when the Missouri Tigers visit the Oklahoma Sooners in a Southeastern Conference men’s basketball game Tuesday night at Lloyd Noble Center. The Tigers (20-9) edged the Sooners 88-87 in overtime in Columbia on Jan. 24, a result that has defined the trajectory of both teams’ seasons. Missouri has surged, winning seven of its last nine games, including an 88-64 road victory at Mississippi State last Saturday. Oklahoma (15-13), meanwhile, has struggled for consistency, alternating wins and losses in its last six contests, though it is coming off an 83-67 win at LSU. Missouri’s recent success has been fueled by efficient play, particularly from forward Shawn Phillips. Over his last seven games, Phillips is averaging 10.1 points and has provided a defensive presence, recording multiple blocks in three of those contests. He scored 16 points in 20 minutes in the win at Mississippi State. Oklahoma will counter with guard Xzayvier Brown, who is coming off a 20-point performance against LSU and has shown high-scoring capability, including a 21-point game at Kentucky earlier this month. Backcourt mate Nijel Pack, who had 21 points and four assists against LSU, provides additional offensive firepower for the Sooners. The Tigers boast a clear advantage in the standings, but the Sooners have been stronger at home, where they have won three of their last four. Oklahoma will need to contain a balanced Missouri attack that saw Mark Mitchell score 17 points and Trent Pierce add 10 in the rout of Mississippi State. Tuesday’s contest is the final regular-season home game for Oklahoma before it travels to Texas on Saturday. Missouri will host Arkansas in its next game. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CST.
