SALT LAKE CITY (Interstat) — The Colorado Buffaloes will look to solidify their position in the postseason conversation when they visit the struggling Utah Utes in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball matchup Tuesday night at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Colorado (16-13) enters the regular-season finale seeking momentum after a 102-62 road loss to Houston on Saturday. The Buffaloes had won two straight prior to that defeat and are 4-4 in their last eight games. Their success has often flowed through guard Isaiah Johnson, who is averaging 16.4 points and 3.9 assists over his last seven contests. Johnson scored 19 points against Houston and had 27 in an overtime loss at BYU on Feb. 14. Utah (10-19) has lost seven of its last eight games, including a 73-60 defeat at Arizona State on Saturday. The Utes’ lone victory in that stretch was a 61-56 defensive win at West Virginia on Feb. 18. Forward Keanu Dawes has been a consistent bright spot, posting four double-doubles in the last month, including a 22-point, 12-rebound performance at Kansas on Feb. 7. In the loss to Arizona State, Dawes led Utah with 16 points. The Buffaloes won the first meeting this season, 85-73, in Boulder on Jan. 7. In that game, Colorado used a strong second half to pull away from the Utes. For Colorado, a win would secure a winning regular-season record and improve its resume ahead of next week’s conference tournament. Utah, playing its home finale, will aim to snap a three-game skid and build positive energy heading into the offseason. The Utes are just 1-9 in their last 10 games against conference opponents. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST. Colorado concludes its regular season at home against Arizona on Saturday. Utah travels to face Baylor the same day.
