Vermont Aims to Avenge Earlier Loss as Albany Visits Burlington BURLINGTON, Vt. (Interstat) — The Vermont Catamounts will look to protect their home court and avenge a January loss when they host the Albany Great Danes in an America East Conference men’s basketball matchup Tuesday night. The game tips off at 7 p.m. EST at Roy L. Patrick Gymnasium. Vermont (19-11, 11-4 America East) enters the contest firmly in the conference title chase, while Albany (11-19, 6-9) seeks to play spoiler and build momentum heading into the postseason. The Catamounts hold a significant edge in the standings, but the Great Danes won the first meeting this season, 75-68, in Albany on Jan. 19. Albany arrives with some confidence after a decisive 84-61 victory over New Hampshire on Saturday. The Great Danes are led by guard Amir Lindsey, who has been a model of durability and production. Over his last seven games, Lindsey has averaged 18.1 points and 6.1 assists while playing nearly 40 minutes per contest. In the win over New Hampshire, he posted 15 points and seven assists. Vermont is coming off a tight 66-64 home win over UMass Lowell on Thursday. The Catamounts rely on the scoring of guard TJ Hurley, who is averaging 15.6 points per game in conference play. Hurley scored 19 points in the win over Lowell and had a 27-point outburst in a loss at Maine on Feb. 5. The Catamounts have been strong at home this season, boasting a 12-2 record at Patrick Gym. Albany has struggled on the road, posting a 4-10 mark away from home. For Albany, secondary scoring behind Lindsey will be critical. Miles Rose and Okechukwu Okeke each added 16 points in the win over New Hampshire. Vermont will counter with a balanced attack that includes forward Gus Yalden, who scored 21 points against Lowell. Tuesday’s game is the penultimate contest of the regular season for both teams. Vermont will look to solidify its seeding for the America East tournament, while Albany aims to climb the standings and carry a winning streak into the playoffs.
