ITHACA, N.Y. (Interstat) — A surging Yale men’s basketball team, boasting one of the nation’s top records, aims to continue its dominant Ivy League run when it visits a struggling Cornell squad on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, at Newman Arena. The Bulldogs (20-4, 10-1 Ivy) enter on a five-game winning streak and sit atop the conference standings. Their last outing was a 74-70 home victory over Penn on Feb. 21, powered by a standout performance from forward Isaac Celiscar. The junior recorded a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds, adding five assists in 38 minutes. Celiscar has been a consistent force, scoring in double figures in six of Yale’s last seven contests. Yale’s offense, which averages over 80 points per game in conference play, hummed in the teams’ first meeting this season. The Bulldogs routed Cornell 102-68 in New Haven on Jan. 17, a game in which they shot 54% from the field and forced 18 turnovers. The home-standing Big Red (12-12, 5-6) seeks to halt a two-game skid and improve its .500 record. Cornell is coming off a disappointing 73-54 home loss to Harvard, where offensive struggles were prevalent outside of guard Anthony Nimani. The sophomore provided a bright spot with 18 points, showcasing his scoring ability, but the team managed just a 32% shooting performance overall. Nimani has shown flashes of high-level scoring, including an 18-point effort against Harvard, but consistency has been elusive. Cornell will need a more balanced offensive attack and a significant defensive improvement to challenge the high-powered Bulldogs. In the January loss, Yale’s transition game and interior scoring proved overwhelming. The matchup pits Yale’s conference-leading efficiency against a Cornell team fighting to stay in the upper half of the Ivy League table. A Bulldogs win would solidify their position as the team to beat, while a Cornell upset at home could reshuffle the league standings heading into the final stretch of the regular season. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST at Newman Arena in Ithaca.
