Preview: Dayton Looks to Continue Surge at George Washington WASHINGTON (Interstat) — The surging Dayton Flyers, winners of five of their last six, visit the George Washington Revolutionaries in an Atlantic 10 men’s basketball clash Friday night at Charles E. Smith Center. Dayton (19-8, 11-3 A-10) enters on a three-game winning streak, most recently dispatching Saint Louis 77-62 on Tuesday behind a 26-point effort from star forward Amael L’Etang. The Flyers sit near the top of the conference standings and are playing their best basketball of the season. George Washington (16-12, 8-6) aims to build momentum after a dominant 104-77 road victory at La Salle, also on Tuesday. The Revolutionaries have been inconsistent in league play but remain a formidable opponent at home. The matchup features two of the conference’s top performers. Dayton’s L’Etang has been on a tear, averaging 19.1 points over his last seven games, including a 30-minute, 26-point, three-assist, three-block performance against Saint Louis. His versatility anchors the Flyers’ attack. George Washington will counter with center Luke Hunger, who dropped 20 points in the win over La Salle and is coming off a 31-point outing against George Mason on Feb. 13. His inside presence will be critical against Dayton’s frontcourt. In the teams’ first meeting this season on Jan. 6, Dayton held serve at home with a 79-72 victory. The Flyers have controlled the recent series, winning the last four encounters. For Dayton, a victory would solidify its position for a high seed in the upcoming A-10 tournament. George Washington, hovering around .500 in the league, needs a signature win to improve its postseason rĂ©sumĂ©. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST Friday. Dayton travels to Richmond next Tuesday, while George Washington hosts Saint Bonaventure next Wednesday.
