Preview: Harvard Visits Princeton in Ivy League Showdown PRINCETON, N.J. (Interstat) — A surging Harvard men’s basketball team will look to solidify its position near the top of the Ivy League standings when it visits struggling Princeton on Friday afternoon at Jadwin Gymnasium. The Crimson (15-10 overall) enter the contest having won five of their last six games, including a decisive 73-54 road victory at Cornell last Saturday. Harvard currently sits in second place in the conference. Princeton (8-18), meanwhile, looks to snap a five-game losing streak. The Tigers’ last win was an 80-68 victory at Columbia on Jan. 31. They are tied for last place in the Ivy League. The matchup will feature two of the conference’s top offensive talents. Harvard is led by guard Tey Barbour, who is coming off a career-high 30-point performance against Cornell. Over his last six games, Barbour is averaging 17.5 points per contest. Princeton will counter with guard Jackson Hicke, who scored 26 points in the Tigers’ most recent loss at Brown. Hicke has been a bright spot, averaging 15.7 points per game during the team’s current skid. This will be the second meeting between the schools this season. Harvard outlasted Princeton 87-80 in overtime on Jan. 17 in Cambridge. In that game, the Crimson erased a late deficit to force the extra period. Harvard’s recent success has been built on balanced contributions. In the win over Cornell, Thomas Batties posted 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, while Chandler Pigge added seven points, nine rebounds and eight assists alongside Barbour’s scoring outburst. For Princeton, finding consistent support for Hicke has been a challenge. Malik Abdullahi (13 points) and Landon Clark (eight points, five assists) provided help against Brown, but the Tigers’ defense has allowed 80 or more points in three of the five losses during their streak. The game tips off at 7 p.m. EST. Harvard will travel to Penn for its next game on Saturday. Princeton will host Dartmouth on Saturday.
