CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to build late-season momentum will meet when the UNC Greensboro Spartans visit the Chattanooga Mocs in a Southern Conference men’s basketball matchup on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026. Both teams enter McKenzie Arena with identical 12-17 overall records. The game is a rematch of a Jan. 1 contest, which UNC Greensboro won 77-72 at home. The Spartans have lost two straight, including an 87-75 home defeat to East Tennessee State on Saturday. In that game, forward Valentino Pinedo posted 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Pinedo, a key player to watch for UNCG, is coming off a stretch that included a 15-point performance in a win over Wofford on Feb. 14. Chattanooga snapped a two-game skid with a dominant 93-72 road victory at The Citadel on Saturday. Forward Collin Mulholland led the way with a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. Mulholland has been a consistent contributor for the Mocs, averaging 7.4 points and 4.9 rebounds over his last eight games. Recent form favors the home team. While UNC Greensboro has lost four of its last six, Chattanooga has won three of its last five, including the decisive win at The Citadel. The Spartans will need to contain Mulholland’s interior presence and find scoring beyond Pinedo, with KJ Younger (20 points vs. ETSU) and Justin Neely (18 points vs. ETSU) as potential options. For Chattanooga, maintaining the balanced attack seen Saturday, where Jordan Frison scored 16 and Tate Darner added 12, will be crucial against a UNCG team it narrowly lost to earlier this season. Tipoff is set for Thursday night at McKenzie Arena. UNC Greensboro visits Samford on Saturday, while Chattanooga hosts Virginia Military Institute the same day.
