Preview: Sacramento State at Montana MISSOULA, Mont. (Interstat) — The Sacramento State Hornets and the Montana Grizzlies will meet for the second time this season in a Big Sky Conference men’s basketball game Thursday at Dahlberg Arena. The matchup is a rematch of a Jan. 31 game in Sacramento, where the Hornets (9-18, 4-10 Big Sky) defeated the Grizzlies 86-79. Montana (14-14, 6-8) will look to defend its home court and even the season series. Sacramento State enters on a five-game losing streak, most recently falling 86-80 to Idaho on Feb. 21. Despite the team’s struggles, guard Prophet Johnson has been a consistent offensive force. Over his last eight games, Johnson is averaging 24.4 points and 4.4 assists, including a 35-point outburst in a win over Weber State and 26 points in the earlier victory over Montana. The Grizzlies have lost three straight, including a 92-72 defeat at Weber State on Feb. 21. Guard Money Williams leads Montana, averaging 20.1 points per game in conference play. He scored 24 points with eight assists in the loss at Sacramento State last month. Both teams are seeking momentum as the conference tournament approaches. The Hornets’ last win came against Montana, and they will rely heavily on Johnson’s scoring to snap their skid. The Grizzlies, hovering at .500, need a home victory to stabilize their record before hosting Portland State on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. MST tip-off Thursday.
