WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Interstat) — The William & Mary Tribe will look to solidify its position in the Colonial Athletic Association standings when it hosts the struggling Northeastern Huskies on Thursday night at Kaplan Arena. The matchup presents a stark contrast in seasons. William & Mary (16-11) enters the game seeking momentum after a narrow 84-83 road loss to Campbell last Thursday. The Tribe, however, has been strong at home and handily defeated these same Huskies just two weeks ago, 94-67, in Boston. Northeastern (6-20) arrives mired in a nine-game losing streak, its most recent a 82-68 home loss to Hofstra on Feb. 21. The Huskies’ last victory came on Jan. 15. A key player to watch for William & Mary is guard Reese Miller, who is coming off a 26-point performance in the loss to Campbell. Miller has been a consistent scoring threat, surpassing 20 points in three of his last six games. For Northeastern, forward Youri Fritz will aim to build on his first double-double of the season, a 14-point, 11-rebound effort against Hofstra. His production will be critical for a Huskies team that has struggled offensively during its skid. In the teams’ first meeting on Feb. 12, William & Mary dominated inside and capitalized on Northeastern turnovers to cruise to the 27-point victory. The Tribe shot 54% from the field in that game. The Huskies will need a significant defensive improvement to avoid a similar fate. William & Mary averages 81.2 points per game, while Northeastern allows 78.7. Following this game, William & Mary travels to face North Carolina A&T on Saturday. Northeastern continues its road trip at Hampton on the same day.
