CARROLLTON, Ga. (Interstat) — A surging Lipscomb squad looks to solidify its position in the ASUN Conference standings when it visits a struggling West Georgia team on Wednesday night at The Coliseum. The Bisons (18-11) enter on a two-game winning streak following a dominant 73-51 victory over North Alabama on Saturday. They have won four of their last six contests. The Wolves (12-16), conversely, have lost four of their last five, including a 91-84 defeat at Queens (N.C.) on Saturday. Lipscomb’s recent success has been fueled by forward Grant Asman, a consistent offensive threat. Over his last eight games, Asman is averaging 13.9 points, highlighted by a 25-point performance against Central Arkansas on Feb. 7. He is coming off a strong all-around game against North Alabama, posting 12 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. West Georgia will counter with forward Kenneth Chime, who is coming off his best performance of the season. Chime recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds in the loss to Queens. His presence inside will be critical against a Lipscomb frontcourt featuring Asman. The Bisons won the first meeting this season, an 82-78 victory at home over Austin Peay on Jan. 17, but this will be the first conference matchup between the two programs as first-year ASUN member West Georgia transitions to Division I. Lipscomb’s offense, which put up 100 points in a win at North Florida last month, will test a West Georgia defense that has allowed an average of 79.2 points over its last five games. The Wolves will need a significant performance from guard Josh Smith, who scored 20 points against Queens, to keep pace. Wednesday’s contest is the first of two final regular-season games for both teams. Lipscomb visits Eastern Kentucky on Saturday, while West Georgia hosts North Alabama.
