Preview: Lafayette at Colgate Menās Basketball HAMILTON, N.Y. (Interstat) ā The Colgate Raiders will look to solidify their position in the Patriot League standings when they host the struggling Lafayette Leopards on Wednesday night at Cotterell Court. Colgate (17-12 overall) enters the contest with momentum from a thrilling 101-98 overtime victory over Loyola Maryland on Feb. 21. The Raiders have won four of their last six games and are powered by standout guard Jalen Cox. The dynamic scorer is coming off a monumental performance, pouring in 38 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in the overtime win. Over his last eight games, Cox has averaged 20.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists, showcasing his all-around ability to carry the Raidersā offense. Lafayette (9-19) aims to halt a two-game skid after falling 75-61 to American on Sunday. The Leopards have found wins hard to come by, dropping eight of their last 11 contests. Their fortunes often rest with guard Mark Butler, who leads the team in assists and is a consistent scoring threat. Butler scored 17 points with eight assists in the loss to American and had 13 points and seven assists in a win over Bucknell on Jan. 28. He will need a significant performance to challenge Colgateās defense. The Raiders won the first meeting this season, 85-77, at Lafayette on Dec. 31, 2025. In that game, Cox scored 24 points for Colgate, while Butler had 12 points and eight assists for the Leopards. For Colgate, a victory is crucial as they jockey for seeding in the upcoming Patriot League tournament, where they are expected to be a contender. For Lafayette, the game represents an opportunity to play spoiler and build confidence away from home against one of the conferenceās top talents in Cox. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
