Preview: Florida Visits Texas in Key SEC Clash AUSTIN, Texas (Interstat) — The surging Florida Gators, riding an eight-game winning streak, will face a Texas Longhorns team seeking a resume-boosting victory when the Southeastern Conference foes meet Wednesday night at the Frank Erwin Center. Florida (21-6, 11-3 SEC) has been one of the nation’s hottest teams, with its last loss coming on Jan. 24. The Gators are coming off a dominant 94-75 road win at Mississippi on Saturday, where four players scored in double figures. They lead the SEC in scoring offense, averaging 87.2 points per game during conference play. The Gators are powered by forward Alex Condon, who is averaging 18.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists over his last seven games. He scored 24 points with six assists in the win over Ole Miss. Guard Xaivian Lee adds playmaking, dishing 10 assists in that contest. Texas (17-10, 8-6) looks to rebound after a 91-80 loss at Georgia last Saturday snapped a three-game win streak. The Longhorns are 12-3 at home this season. They are led by guard Dailyn Swain, who has scored 20 or more points in five of his last seven games, including a 30-point effort at Auburn on Jan. 28. The matchup features a contrast in tempo. Florida’s high-paced attack will test a Texas defense that has allowed 80 or more points in three of its last five games. The Longhorns will need a strong performance from Swain and efficient scoring from center Matas Vokietaitis, who had 22 points against Georgia, to keep pace. This is the only scheduled meeting between the programs this season. Florida’s current streak includes a 100-77 rout of then-Alabama on Feb. 1. Texas owns a home win over then-South Carolina (84-75) on Feb. 3. A win would bolster Florida’s case for a high seed in the NCAA Tournament and keep pressure on SEC leader Tennessee. For Texas, a victory is crucial for strengthening its postseason profile as it sits on the tournament bubble. Following this game, Florida hosts Arkansas on Saturday. Texas travels to face rival Texas A&M on Saturday.
