OMAHA, Neb. (Interstat) — A pair of Big East teams seeking momentum for the final stretch of the regular season will meet Wednesday when the DePaul Blue Demons visit the Creighton Bluejays at CHI Health Center. Both teams enter with identical 14-13 overall records, though Creighton sits at .500 in conference play while DePaul is one game below. The matchup is a quick rematch of a Feb. 11 thriller in Chicago, which DePaul won 72-71 on its home floor. The Blue Demons (14-13, 6-10 Big East) have been inconsistent, alternating wins and losses in their last six games. They are coming off a narrow 71-68 home loss to Providence on Saturday. Their fortunes often hinge on the performance of forward NJ Benson, who is averaging 18.4 points over his last five contests. Benson scored 23 points in the first meeting against Creighton this month and is coming off a 19-point effort against the Friars. Creighton (14-13, 7-9) has lost three of its last four, including a lopsided 81-52 defeat at Saint John’s on Saturday. The Bluejays have struggled to find consistent production beyond their core starters. Reserve forward Owen Freeman, a player to watch, had six points and five rebounds in 19 minutes against the Red Storm but has seen limited action in recent weeks, logging just 12 minutes in the first matchup with DePaul. The Bluejays will look to leverage home-court advantage, where they are 10-5 this season, to avenge their earlier loss. DePaul, just 4-8 in true road games, aims to secure a critical season sweep and climb back to an even conference record. Wednesday’s result could prove pivotal for seeding in the upcoming Big East tournament, with both teams currently in the bottom half of the standings. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CST.
